Julia Rommel’s work demonstrates an obsessive interest in the
seductive power, and the absurdity, of a handmade mark of paint.
Brushstrokes are casually created and then painstakingly rendered, and
repeated- each new mark modeled after the original, blurring the act
of representation and abstraction in the construction of a painting.
